If Anyone wants To play this at their service you are free too but list that Denny Carleton is the composer and Shades Of Gray Publishing. I have found there are not many contemporary songs with the theme of loving one another or serving. i love contemporary Christian but they are 90 percent praise and worship . This is defintely a song about using our talents to serve .
While playing at St. Mary’s in Mentor, a woman named Alice Harmon asked if I would like to possibly write a song for her Presbyterian Church. The minister, Rev. Todd, had a vision. The vision was about giving your life away through discipleship and he wanted a theme song called Let's be Glad. And as I prayed about it, I realized that what he wanted to say was exactly the same scripture (Matthew: Chapter 25) I had often meditated on and read when I lived in the Christian community in the 1970’s. It’s the chapter about the wise and foolish virgins, the parable of the talents and judgment of the nation’s when they asked “When did we see you hungry Lord?” Wheb I read that chapter of the Bible in the 1970’s, I interpreted it to mean that we should keep ourselves close to the Lord and be filled to overflowing with the Spirit and then use our talents to help others.
Here are the words to Let’s Be Glad inspired by those scriptures and Rev. Todd’s vision:
Let's be glad and rejoice today
When we hear what the Lord has to say
When we gladly give our lives away
We take the Good News everywhere
We''ll ask the Lord for his guidance then rest and wait
In His time we'll step out in faith
Give our life away to those in need
You'll see our faith when you see our deeds
A light to the world should not be hid
When we follow the Lord we will do what He did
So let The Spirit flow have Thine Own way
You Are The Potter and We are the clay Chorus
Filled With His Spirit And Armed With His Word
We'll use all our talents to go out and serve
All the hurting ones and those lost in sin
What we've done unto others we've done unto Him Chorus
